Fans bring award-winning sell-out classic back to Woombye

A Christmas Carol returns by popular demand for third season on stage.

An award-winning adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol returns to Suncoast Church this December after fans demanded its return for a third time. The production, which reimagines Ebenezer Scrooge as Elosie Scrooge, won the Theatre Haus People’s Choice Award last year following a run of sold-out shows in 2023 and 2024.

Tickets are free for the full-scale theatrical production which features 11 Christmas carols, all performed by a live band. Over 70 cast and crew members are involved in the show, ranging from actors and dancers to singers and musicians.

Riette de Jager, who is producer, assistant director, and co-writer of the show and also plays Eloise Scrooge, said she relished stepping into the iconic character.

“It’s a powerful story of change and redemption. The audience embarks on an incredible journey as Scrooge transforms over the course of the show through her interactions with the Spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Future.

“Our adaptation has proved so popular, it’s becoming a Christmas tradition for locals to come and see the show every year.”

Opening on December 11 and running through until December 14, the production is free to attend with food trucks available before each performance. This year, A Christmas Carol will again be raising money for Hope Hampers, an initiative by Suncoast Church’s mission arm, The Everyday Foundation.

The charity’s annual Christmas drive aims to provide 550 hampers filled with special treats, presents, decorations and everyday food staples to Sunshine Coast locals doing it tough.
