Ninderry event raises awareness of men’s mental health issues

Following the tragic death of a good friend, Ninderry’s Michael Ormston decided to use his platform and property to create an event designed to support men and raise awareness of men’s mental health.

“A Moment For Nath will be an event to remember and honour Nath, support his family, and raise awareness for men’s mental health issues. Our aim is to let men know they don't have to carry life's struggles alone,” Michael explained.

“The reality is that too many Australian men are still dying by suicide. On average, around seven men lose their lives to suicide every day in Australia, making men around three times more likely to die by suicide than women. These aren't just statistics. They're fathers, sons, brothers, partners, mates, work colleagues and members of our community.”

Michael is the founder of Empowerment Adventures Australia, delivering transformative experiences through breathwork, mentoring, adventure and wellbeing programs that empower people to overcome challenges, strengthen their mindset and create lasting positive change.

“The Sunshine Coast is fortunate to have some incredible men's organisations and support services doing important work every day,” he said.

“This event is about bringing many of those services together in one place, helping men see what's available, creating genuine connection, and reminding them that asking for support is a sign of courage, not weakness.

“I would like to extend an invitation to the community to take part in this movement of awareness and connection. Whether you come for the workshops, the conversations, the music, the breathwork, the fire circle, or simply to stand alongside other men and families who care, your presence matters.”
