Community gets behind first Above & Beyond Awards
Ginger Factory Park Manager & Awards Sponsor, Michelle O’Brien with Nicklin MP, Marty Hunt.
The Sunshine Coast community has thrown its support behind the inaugural Above & Beyond Awards, with more than 3,500 votes cast before voting officially closed yesterday (Tuesday 14 July).
Presented by Member for Nicklin Marty Hunt, the awards celebrate the local people, businesses and organisations who go above and beyond every day to make the region a better place.
Mr Hunt said the overwhelming response highlighted the strength of community spirit across the electorate.
"The response has been incredible, with thousands of people taking the time to recognise those who make a real difference in our community," Mr Hunt said.
"These awards are about celebrating the volunteers, businesses, community groups and everyday locals who quietly go above and beyond without expecting recognition.
"It's been fantastic to see so many people get behind the awards and I can’t wait to announced the finalists."
Finalists are expected to be announced later this week, and winners will be crowned at the Above & Beyond Awards presentation on Saturday August 15.
Mr Hunt thanked everyone who submitted nominations and voted, saying the awards had already exceeded expectations in their inaugural year.
"The quality of the nominations and the level of community engagement has been outstanding," he said.
"It shows just how lucky we are to live in a community filled with people who genuinely care about helping others."
Stay tuned to Mr Hunt’s facebook page as finalists are announced soon.
