Photo entries called for 2026 Maleny Apex Directory

For decades, The Maleny Apex Directory has been an important and popular source of local business information and the cover has traditionally featured local artworks or photography.

To choose the cover photo for the 2026 Directory, Maleny Apex is holding a competition. “We are looking for photos to be presented to go on the front cover of next year's Directory,” said Maleny Apex spokesman, Sam James.

“The first prize winner will receive $300, the second prize, $200 and the third prize, $100.

To enter the competition simply send a copy of the photo, with your story about where you took it and why it is special to you in the context of our beautiful region.

The Association of Apex Clubs of Australia is the collective name given to 330 individual Apex Clubs (service clubs) throughout Australia.

“An Apex club is a community service club which is neither sectarian nor party political,” said Sam.

“It provides young civic-minded people the opportunity to volunteer within the community and develop personally through club run schemes and initiatives.”

The Apex Club of Maleny is run by locals for the benefit of the community. Apex contributes to the community by providing service and funding activities. Service involves Apex members making their skills and labour freely available.

“Some of the programs we have helped include Maleny High School Roadcraft driver education course, Apex Escapes (weekends for families in need), the Maleny Youth engagement program through gym classes, the Maleny hospital auxiliary, the Maleny Neighborhood centre and grass roots sporting clubs throughout the hinterland,” said Sam.

“Sometimes the support is in the form of goods and sponsorship and sometimes it is people power. Most people are probably familiar with the sight of Apex BBQs and the members serving us at the Show bar,” he said.

Apex supports individuals and families in ways that many may not be aware of. This can take the form of help with accommodation and transport for people in need of repeated medical treatment or practical or financial support for high achieving athletes.
