Community voices concerns on Blackall St intersection

More than two dozen Woombye residents have had their say on the busy Blackall Street and Nambour Connection Road intersection.

The Woombye Community & Business Association (WCBA) received 27 responses after calling for local input, which has now been passed on to Nicklin MP Marty Hunt. Mr Hunt has promised to provide the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) with a summary of community ideas and concerns.

WCBA president Milo Frawley thanked residents for taking part. “We appreciate your concern and effort to bring this to the attention of Marty Hunt MP,” he said.

The association said it would continue to follow the matter closely as part of its long-standing role representing Woombye.

Planning underway on dangerous intersection

Meanwhile, planning work is also underway on the Diddillibah Road and Nambour Connection Road intersection. TMR is currently assessing upgrade options, identifying the scope and costs required, with $2.5 million secured in the recent State Budget thanks to advocacy from Mr Hunt. The planning phase is expected to wrap up by late 2026, with community feedback welcomed throughout the process.
