Petrie Creek BushCare News with Norm Morwood

Here’s the BushCare team of volunteers and not-so-volunteer baby and dogs getting psyched up to start the weeding and planting at our site in the creeks around the Model Rail Park in Nambour recently. We installed another 40 local plants and demolished weeds in several places including along Namba Ck and The Swamp near the entry gate. Great result Team! Thanks from the local animals.

If you’d like to join us in these local native animal habitat-improving BushCare activities, the next opportunities at our sites are:

• Gulung Gung, downstream of Quota Park on Wednesday 27 May starting at 8am.  Easiest access is from the rear carpark at Aldi, by walking down the rough track around the north side of the carpark, across the low level bridge, or walk across from Quota Park.

• Florabunda Pocket in Woombye, Saturday 06 June Starting at 8am.  Meet near the back Rugby oval in Victory Park, Woombye. Come down Laidlaw Rd and turn right through the large wire mesh gates just before the Gymnastics Hall and follow that road till you see us.

To join in the action, you’ll need to come in “long everything” bush protective clothing including boots/shoes and a hat. All tools required are provided. Let us know you’re planning to come by email to Norm or just turn up.

For more info and to check starting times and dates etc of events, see the FB Page Petrie Creek Catchment Care Group Inc and for additional info www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au/bushcare or contact Norm Morwood 0409 63 99 44 or email normmorwood@gmail.com.
