Nambour still out of bounds but BushCare continues

Petrie Creek BushCare News with Norm Morwood

It’s very sad, particularly for the native animals, but our BushCare activities in Nambour are not only still “out of bounds” to us BushCarers to continue our weed control and native planting activities, but the large number of creekside campers are destroying much of the native forest we have restored in the last 12 years of monthly activities and are displacing the native animals.

However we will be continuing/transferring the regular BushCare Action Bees to our Woombye site on Petrie Creek. Plenty of action still required there as it is a large site with many options as to which part we operate on.

Next events will start at 8am on Saturday 16 August and then Wednesday 27 August.

If you would like to join in our volunteer activities at Florabunda Pocket we’ll meet near the back Rugby oval at Woombye. To get there, come down Laidlaw Rd and turn right through the large wire mesh gates just before the Gymnastics Hall and follow that road and you’ll see us assembling.

To join in the action, you’ll need to come in “long everything” bush protective clothing including boots/shoes and a hat. All tools required will be provided. Then after a couple of hours of good exercise and satisfying achievement we’ll finish with the well-deserved cuppa and a good chat.

For more info and to check starting times and dates etc of events, see the Petrie Creek Catchment Care Group FB Page and for additional info www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au/bushcare or contact Norm Morwood 0409 63 99 44 or email normmorwood@gmail.com

Bushcarers had some impressive company on a recent working bee.
