Chamber Catches up at Nambour Cinema

About 80 people attended the Nambour Chamber of Commerce’s first event for the year, a Coffee Catch-up at the new Nambour Cinema & Events Centre in the CBD.

The Nambour Chamber of Commerce celebrated Catherine Grayson’s one-year anniversary at Sweet Inc Images, with a lovely birthday cake provided for attendees to enjoy.

Joe Proctor from the Department of Small and Family Business provided an overview of the free services and support available to local businesses through the Queensland government, including the Business Queensland website and newsletter.

Trish Keena, the mentee coordinator for Business Mentors Sunshine Coast, outlined the organisation’s 12-month mentorship program and 3-month startup program, and encouraged businesses to participate as mentees or volunteer as mentors.

Kim Normand of Cherish Funerals, a mentee in the Business Mentors Sunshine Coast program, shared her positive experience and how the mentorship has helped her business grow.

Luke Warburton, the new owner of the Nambour Cinema and Event Centre, discussed his journey of acquiring and renovating the cinema, and his plans to incorporate live entertainment in addition to movie screenings (see story this edition).

Finally, Michelle from 91.1 Hot FM highlighted the station’s upcoming “Paint the Town Red” promotion on March 7, and encouraged local businesses’ participation.
