Nambour’s Dan Anstey lands national Today show role

Dan Anstey, formerly of Nambour, has been named as a new host of Weekend Today and weekday weather presenter for the Today show.

Nambour’s own Dan Anstey is taking another big step in his broadcasting career, landing a major new role with Channel 9’s popular Today show.

The familiar television and radio personality has been named as a new host of Weekend Today and weekday weather presenter for the Today show, marking a significant promotion for the Sunshine Coast local.

Dan has spent years entertaining audiences as a weekend weather presenter on Channel 9 and a radio host with Triple M Brisbane, building a reputation for his lively personality and easygoing on-air style.

His latest appointment will see him become an even more familiar face in Australian households, appearing across the network’s national breakfast television programs.

For Nambour, it’s another local success story, with one of the town’s own making his mark on the national media stage.

Nine confirmed the appointment on Monday, November 2, with Dan starting his new roles in 2027. He will present weekday weather from Monday to Wednesday and co-host Weekend Today alongside Alison Piotrowski and Lizzie Pearl. He will leave Triple M Brisbane in December and relocate to Sydney with his wife and two children.

Dan said: “I feel like a kid in a candy store who got to choose my two favourite lollies.”

There is also a particularly good local connection worth adding.

The Gazette has previously reported that Dan was dux of Nambour High, and that his parents, Dr Chris Anstey and physiotherapist Janeen Anstey, lived at Nambour Heights.

Dan also recently returned to Nambour to present Weekend Today weather broadcasts featuring his hometown.
