Upgrades for Mapleton’s Lilyponds Park
I’m thrilled to share some great news about one of our most-loved spots – Mapleton Lilyponds Park. We’ve just finished two fantastic projects that make this beautiful park even better for everyone. First up, we’ve delivered a renewed, inclusive public amenity, including a fully compliant People with Disability (PWD) unisex cubicle. This upgrade means better accessibility for all, and it’s something you told us was important – we listened, and we acted. Secondly, we’ve added a brand-new half court for basketball, netball and even pickleball! It’s already proving popular with young people and families looking for more ways to stay active and have fun. These improvements are about making sure Lilyponds Park is modern, inclusive and ready for the future. I encourage you to head down, check out the upgrades, and enjoy everything this wonderful park has to offer.
Pioneer Road improvements – a win for Yandina!
I'm pleased to share that the footpath along Pioneer Road from the Historic House north is due to be constructed by the end of the year. This 1.8-metre-wide footpath will stretch 290 metres, improving pedestrian accessibility and safety in this very busy area of Yandina. This will really add to the improvements we've just completed along Pioneer Road – notably the new marked parking bays, which has significantly improved car parking in the area. Importantly, the project carefully balanced the needs of Yandina’s diverse users for tourism, commercial, and industrial ensuring the precinct remains accessible and efficient for all. A heartfelt thanks to residents and businesses for their patience during construction.
Let's make Division 10 even better - there's a free App for that!
I was chatting with a few locals recently about how we can all do our bit to keep Division 10 looking great and running smoothly. The good news is – it’s easier than ever! Ever spotted a pothole, or noticed something that needs fixing at the playground? You can help by reporting it straight away using the Sunshine Coast Council App. This free app puts Council services right in your pocket. With just a few taps, you can check your bin collection days, report issues like potholes or park repairs, access real-time road updates, stay informed through Disaster Hub, explore our beautiful region, and lots more. It’s something everyone in our community can access and use to make a difference. You can download the app by searching “Sunshine Coast App” in the App Store or Google Play.
