Author and music industry veteran, Emily Rockit.
The realities of life on the road for Australian musicians will be in the spotlight when author and music industry veteran Emily Rockit brings her national book tour to Nambour and Maleny in November.
The Northern Rivers- based author is touring independent record stores and music venues across Australia to promote her debut book, Louder Than Life: The Touring Musician’s Handbook.
Drawing on interviews with more than 30 Australian touring artists, including Troy Cassar-Daley, Bobby Alu, Salt & Steel and musicians associated with John Butler Trio and Amy Shark, the book explores the challenges and rewards of life as a touring performer.
Emily will host two free Sunshine Coast events featuring live music, panel discussions and book signings, with local musicians and industry professionals sharing their experiences. The first event will be held at the Old Ambulance Station in Nambour on Saturday, November 21, from 4pm to 5.30pm, featuring a performance by The Lyrical and a panel appearance by David Dean from Hostile Entertainment.
The tour continues at Maleny Lane on Sunday, November 22, from 11am to 12.30pm, with Salt & Steel performing and OJ Newcomb from Yama-Nui joining the discussion.
Emily hopes the conversations will shine a light on the pressures facing touring musicians and the wider live music industry, while celebrating the artists who keep Australian music alive.
