Farmer family farewells parents with moving Montville tribute

Saturday, July 25th was an unforgettable day for the Farmer family as they gathered in Montville to honour the memory of their beloved parents, Margaret and Les Farmer. Local neighbour David Polley graciously opened his Western Ave paddock, near where the family once lived, to host the heartfelt farewell.

The day began with son Mark taking a joyflight with his dad’s ashes in a bright yellow warplane,  against a brilliant blue sky. Later, siblings Ian, Noel, and Linda arrived by helicopter, after completing a flyover above Les's sisters house in Maleny. They landed in the paddock for photos before taking off to circle Montville twice as Noel released ashes over the township they called home. There were tears, hugs, and laughter—just the kind of send-off Margaret and Les would have cherished. The last of the ashes will be scattered down at the Obi as Les wished.

A Celebration of Life for Les Farmer will be held at the Palmwoods Bowls Club on Sunday, August 9th at noon. Family and friends are invited to attend and share their memories.
