The annual Nambour Gemfest is a widely anticipated event that hosts traders, miners, fossickers, jewellers, and those who simply love gems, at the Nambour Showgrounds.

“Gemfest is one of the biggest gem trade shows in Australia, and we typically find that people travel from all over the country to attend,” said Nambour Lapidary Club spokesman, Keith Millington.

“It is a wonderful thing for Nambour.”

Gemfest brings people in the lapidary industry together to showcase the ancient traditions of stone work that people have been fascinated by for thousands of years, and the Nambour Gemfest is hosted by the Nambour Lapidary Club, which was established in 1965.

“Our club has grown in leaps and bounds over the years, as people have increasingly become interested in gems,” Mr Millington said.

“Gemfest is a real signature event for our club, but we also offer regular workshops throughout the year for anyone passionate about gems.

“Anyone who sells any product related to gems, rocks, and jewels is invited to join us on the day. We always receive terrific feedback from collectors and shoppers, and those looking for unique pieces.”

Visitors to this year’s October 11 Gemfest will find precious and semi-precious gems, opals, sapphires, minerals, fossils, collectibles, jewellery, and even bargain-priced lapidary supplies.

“We are expecting a record number of exhibitors this year, and the event is open to people of all ages,” said Mr Millington.

“The entrance fee is $8 for adults, while kids are free of charge. There will be numerous stalls and displays, and lunch and refreshments will be available throughout the day. Parking will be provided, and the $2 parking fee will be donated to Palmwoods Scouts. There will also be an ATM on site,” he said.

“This is your opportunity to browse through thousands of dazzling stones, and get to meet others who love gems, too.”
