Glass House community groups share in almost$20m through Gambling Community Benefit Fund

Member for Glass House, Andrew Powell MP has announced the successful recipients of the latest round of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF), which delivered almost $20 million across Queensland to not-for-profit community organisations.

The GCBF is Queensland’s largest one-off community grants program, supporting sporting clubs, dedicated volunteer groups and local organisations deliver a range of vital services and activities that strengthen local communities, including:

• Upgrading facilities
• Delivering training programs and community events
• Purchasing equipment, supplies and vehicles

For 30 years, GCBF has injected approximately $60 million directly into community services each year and continues to attract strong interest, with Round 126 receiving more than 2,000 applications.

Andrew Powell MP said he was proud to see local groups across Glass House benefit from the grant funding. Successful recipients include:

• Beerwah Glasshouse United Football Club Inc - $20,000 to upgrade facility
• Lake Baroon Catchment Care Group Inc - $7,500 to purchase equipment
• Maleny Amateur Drama Group Inc - $35,000 to upgrade facility
• Maleny Neighbourhood Centre Assc Inc - $7,988 to purchase equipment
• Maleny Street Gardeners Alliance Inc - $6,745 to purchase equipment
• Maleny Visitor Information Centre Inc - $3,798 to purchase equipment
• Mt Delaney Pony Club Inc - $35,000 to upgrade facility and purchase equipment
• Para Ice Hockey QLD Inc - $28,330 to purchase equipment and host program
• Sunshine Coast Area Trail & Endurance Riders Inc - $4,856 to host an event
• Wamuran Historical and Visitors Centre Inc - $22,010 to upgrade facility
• Woodfordia Ltd - $34,180 to purchase equipment

“These organisations are crucial for connection and social inclusion in our community, so it’s important they receive the support they need to deliver vital community services and activities,” Mr Powell said.

“Queenslanders are facing a national affordability crisis, and for many not-for profit organisations, every dollar counts. Thanks to this funding, our community groups can continue to thrive.

“The Crisafulli Government is proud to back local organisations and I congratulate the successful applicants from the Glass House electorate.”

Attorney-General, Minister for Justice and Minister for Integrity Deb Frecklington said the GCBF supported the organisations and people who dedicate their time to strengthening communities across Queensland.

“These organisations are at the heart of our communities, and grant funding from the GCBF ensures they can continue to operate and deliver vital services for Queenslanders,” the Attorney-General said.
