Blaze guts empty Burnside house

Emergency services rushed to Perwillowen Rd, Burnside, just before midday after an abandoned single-storey house caught alight next to Burnside Motors.

Queensland Fire Department crews arrived about 11.50am, finding the structure “fully engulfed in flames”.

The blaze was contained by 12.05pm, according to the Sunshine Coast Daily, but firefighters were still damping down hotspots and searching the building early this afternoon.

Police and Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics stood by while crews worked.

Images taken by passer-by Tony Bryant show flames flaring from a truck body parked behind the house and thick smoke billowing over the busy road.

No injuries had been reported by press time.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and investigations are under way.
