‘Our Nambour is the best’: Jennings’ image wins hearts in photo competition
Jennings’ photograph is a reminder of how much beauty can be found in familiar local places.
A striking image of Nambour’s most recognisable building has won the public vote in the Nambour Through Your Lens Photographic Competition 2026.
Joseph Jennings Mettekatte Michael (who prefers Jennings) was named winner of the People’s Choice Award for his photograph of the iconic Eddie De Vere building, a landmark that continues to hold a special place in the town’s civic and cultural story.
The competition, organised by Rhonda Billett from IamNambour, and supported by major sponsor Mike Korsos from Korsos Photography, invited photographers to capture the character, colour and spirit of Nambour through their own lens.
Rhonda said Jennings’ winning photograph was a reminder of how much beauty could be found in familiar local places.
“I want to thank Jennings again for entering, it is images like this that make our town shine bright,” she said.
Joseph said he was proud to win the award. “I have been in Nambour for the last four years. From the very beginning itself, I love the vibe of Nambour and the people surrounding myself. Being a nurse, I am very passionate in photography and very lucky to participate in the first year of this competition and win this award. Many miles to go, our Nambour is the best.”
The Nambour Through Your Lens Photographic Competition is part of ongoing efforts to celebrate the town’s identity, creativity and local pride.
