June Garber brings world-class jazz to Nambour

Jazz vocalist June Garber will be joined by an outstanding local quartet.

Acclaimed Canadian jazz vocalist June Garber will bring her show Jazz Across the Ages to The Presynct in Nambour for one night only on Thursday September 18.

Now calling the Sunshine Coast home, Ms Garber is celebrated for her warm, expressive voice and a career that has taken her to stages across Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, Cuba, Mexico and South Africa. Her performances are known for their emotional depth and elegance, with Earshot Magazine describing her voice as “how jazz is sung.”

In Nambour she will be joined by an outstanding local quartet featuring Denis Feletto on keys, Brendan Scully on bass, Trent Bryson-Dean on drums and Phil Hayter on saxophone. Together they will present a rich program that spans generations of jazz, from classic standards to hidden gems, in an intimate jazz-club setting.

Garber’s career includes four acclaimed albums, among them Smile and Off the Carousel, and she has become a sought-after performer at clubs and festivals since settling on the Coast. The Presynct’s upstairs venue offers a cabaret-style experience, with platters available and the option to bring your own food. Doors open at 6pm, with the show running from 7pm to 9.30pm. Tickets are available at www.oztix.com.au.
