A different pathway for senior students:Campus strengthens community ties ahead of opening

Kairos Community College is set to open its new temporary campus in Term 1, marking a significant milestone for the growing school. 

As preparations for the school year continue, the College is also strengthening its ties with the Nambour community through hands-on service and support for local initiatives.

The non-profit senior secondary school offers flexible, student-centred learning for Years 10 to 12 students seeking an alternative to traditional schooling.

In the lead-up to the campus opening, Kairos staff volunteered their time to assist The Shack Community Centre’s Trees of Hope Appeal, helping prepare and distribute essential items for families in need.

The Trees of Hope Appeal provides vital support to local households doing it tough during the festive season, and Kairos staff were eager to contribute.

“Kairos is passionate about being part of the local fabric of Nambour,” said Kairos Executive Principal, Tony Andrews. 

“Supporting the Trees of Hope Appeal allowed our team to give back in a practical way and embody the values we want our students to carry - generosity, compassion, and service.”

Kairos has also strengthened its connection with Nambour Grown, the town’s thriving community garden, by sponsoring two garden beds.  This partnership supports community-led sustainability efforts and lays the foundation for future educational experiences tied to the school’s curriculum.

“Kairos is excited to support Nambour Grown and the amazing work they’re doing to cultivate community, connection, and local food education,” said Kairos Marketing Manager, Katy Devers. 

“These garden beds are a simple but meaningful way we can contribute to the wellbeing of the Nambour community while also opening the door to future student engagement.”

The temporary campus opening later this month will welcome students, staff, and families into a purpose designed learning environment as Kairos continues to grow. 

“These community partnerships reflect the school’s intention to not only operate in Nambour, but to partner with its people, contribute to its initiatives, and help strengthen the place its students call home,” said Katy.
