The Krauss returns to Buderim

Buderim’s much-loved Krauss Locomotive, a key part of the village’s early history, will make its long-awaited return on Friday 21 November 2025. It will leave Wises farm at 9.00am and arrives at 10.30am- 11.00am.

The cosmetically restored train will travel up Jones Road in the morning before it is carefully lifted into place beside the Old Post Office on Burnett Street.

A community BBQ will take place nearby to celebrate this milestone. For safety reasons, public access to the placement area will not be allowed during the lift, as heavy equipment will be in use.

Once in place, the Krauss will remain on its platform while a purpose-built glass enclosure is built around it. The site will remain closed to the public and security monitored during this period.

The official public opening is planned for early next year, once the display building and surrounding area is complete.

This achievement is the result of two decades of dedication by members of the Buderim-Palmwoods Heritage Tramway Inc. (BPHTI), who have worked tirelessly to restore this important piece of Buderim’s heritage.

Thanks to funding support from our State representative, Brent Mickelberg MP, and land provided by the Buderim War Memorial Community Association (BWMCA), Buderim once again welcomes the Krauss – a living piece of history and a proud symbol of the community’s enduring spirit.
