Lind Theatre honours Anzacs on opening night
Song of Survival tells the story of women imprisoned for three and a half years in WWII.
The Lind Theatre marked Anzac Day in a moving ceremony ahead of their Opening Night performance of Song of Survival last week.
Before the curtain rose, the audience paused to acknowledge the bravery of the Anzacs with a special musical tribute.
Cast members performed musical arrangements with Patty Wu on flute and exchange student Tsukushi Tadokoro on oboe, while Judy Friend recited The Ode. A minute’s silence followed, setting an emotional tone for the evening.
Directed by Glenda Campi with musical direction by Naomi Craddock, Song of Survival — written by Ray and Eleanor Harder — tells the extraordinary true story of women imprisoned for three and a half years in a Sumatran jungle concentration camp during World War II.
Described as “great theatre that touches the heart with its story and music” (Daily Californian), the production has struck a powerful chord with audiences.
Final performances are on April 30, May 2 and May 3 at The Lind Theatre, Nambour.
