Business Feature: The Little Book Nook

If you haven’t found this hidden gem in Palmwoods then you have missed out on an enchanting experience.

Tucked up The Lane off Little Main Street is a Bookshop that shares its courtyard with the popular Home Grown Cafe. It is surrounded with gardens for people to relax in and has a great range of books for all ages.

Owner-Manager Kay Nixon has worked in bookshops most of her adult life in Australia and the UK and particularly loves storytelling with children. “There is a little magic in here with flying books and an assortment of book-related knickknacks around the shop,” said Kay. “It has even been featured in a short fantasy film recently called ‘Unbinding Souls’.

Kay loves to find the right book for the right person and sees it as an extension of her involvement in the community where many know her through the Community Garden.

With children’s Book Week coming up from 16-23 August there will be activities for the children with giveaways. “Bring them along to hunt for the clues about their favourite book characters.”

Checkout the Facebook page for other Book Events coming up for children and adults.

The talented Caroline Magerl will be doing an event soon to coincide with her new wordless book, Tomato Sandwiches. Gary Shark Bug also has a launch for his new book on Thursday 21st August.

Kay will be showcasing lots of wonderful books at ‘Romancing the Stars’ , an event held at Immanuel College and hosted by Book Links Queensland for adults who love children’s books and want to meet the authors and illustrators who create them.

Tickets: www.trybooking.com/DDION. The Little Book Nook is at Shop 5, 4-6 Little Main St, Palmwoods. Open Tues-Sat 9am-2pm.
