Local charity raises $320,000 for food relief on the Sunshine Coast
Nambour-based charity The Everyday Foundation has raised $320,000 to support its local food relief efforts at this year’s sold-out Zaleta – Love Food, Give Food Long Lunch.
The event was held for its third year on August 28, at the Flaxton Gardens and was attended by almost 250 guests.
This incredible result brings the total raised by this event since its inception to almost $630,000.
The Everyday Foundation’s General Manager Karen Gullo said the result reflected the strength of the community support behind the organisation’s work.
“We are so grateful that the Sunshine Coast and broader community is backing what we are doing,” she said.
“This money will impact the lives of so many people, and it comes at exactly the right time as we prepare to open our new Currie Street facility which will increase our capacity to support even more people struggling with food and financial insecurity."
The Love Food, Give Food Long Lunch is The Everyday Foundation’s signature fundraising event, with money raised going directly towards its food relief initiatives which include its emergency relief program, meal-support kitchen Daily Bread and school pantry program.
The Everyday Foundation is getting ready to open its new facility at 73-79 Currie Street, Nambour on September 10. The organisation’s low-cost food outlet and emergency relief program will move over from the current Howard St site and will be joined by Daily Bread and its social enterprise cafe, Bean.
The store will open from 9am with a free sausage sizzle from 10am and half-priced coffees on Thursday and Friday.
