Loud and Clear conference coming up
Loud and Clear Qld, a Sunshine Coast self-advocacy group led by people with intellectual disability, will celebrate its 10th anniversary this October with a two-day all-abilities conference and concert.
Loud and Clear Qld, supported by Parent to Parent Qld, has spent the past decade helping people with intellectual disability speak up, make their own choices and challenge unfair systems. The group has also contributed nationally through its involvement with Inclusion Australia’s Our Voice Committee and the Disability Royal Commission.
The anniversary conference, themed Rights, Voices and Choices, will be held on October 9–10 at Meridan Community Church Centre. It will feature workshops, panel discussions and guest speakers.
Payge, a proud member of Loud and Clear Qld, says it feels really good to celebrate 10 years because we have achieved a lot in those years and she looks forward to celebrating at the concert.
Coordinator Alissa O’Connor said the event was about education and empowerment. “It showcases to the community that people with a disability deserve to have their rights respected and their voices heard,” she said.
Come along to this amazing, inclusive and fun event to make new friends, learn new things and try new activities, including Zumba, rugby league, bocce, ballroom dancing and music.
Celebrations will culminate with the All-Abilities Concert on the evening of Friday, October 10, featuring 2025 Australian Idol winner Marshall Hamburger, MC Wheels, the Redcliffe Peninsula Drum Circle and Jammalong.
