Menaka brings powerful live show to Maleny and Eudlo
Music lovers in Maleny and Eudlo will have the chance to experience an award-winning fusion of Indian classical voice and contemporary songwriting when Indian-Australian artist Menaka tours the hinterland this March.
Presented by Red Chair, the performances will be held at Maleny Community Centre on Friday March 27 at 7pm and Eudlo Hall on Sunday March 29 at 4pm.
Menaka blends traditional South Indian (Carnatic) vocal techniques with contemporary influences, creating music shaped by heritage and resilience. Joined by Tsoof Baras on percussion and handpan, Kelsey Giarola on vocals and keyboard, and Darshil Shah on bansuri, the ensemble brings a rich, immersive sound to intimate community venues.
A graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and trained from the age of five by her mother, Vijaya Visvanathan, Menaka’s songwriting emerged during a period of serious health challenges that nearly claimed her vision. That experience led to the creation of her debut album My Eyes Can See.
Red Chair director Angie Dunbavan said, “We’re delighted to share Menaka’s extraordinary music and story with our communities.”
