Health Feature: Pharmacy plays key role in restoring Montville healthcare

When Montville’s long-standing pharmacy closed its doors, many locals were left without easy access to essential health services. Now, Montville Pharmacy is not only filling that gap — it’s helping to rebuild a vital network of care in the village.

Located next to the IGA in the Village Square, Main Street, Montville Pharmacy is operated by pharmacists Abdul Mohammed and Vishal Guray. Since opening, the business has steadily grown, with more locals returning to shop and manage their health in town.

“We answered the call to bring pharmacy services back to Montville,” Mr Mohammed said. “It’s been a slow and steady start, but we’re seeing real support from the community — and we hope that continues.”

The pharmacy is part of a broader revival of local healthcare, with general practice and physiotherapy services now available in the village.

“We’ve now got a good combination of services here in Montville,” Mr Mohammed said. “Ideally, we’d love to see dental or chiropractic services come next. That would really help complete the picture and be good for the town.”

Montville Pharmacy is open 9am to 5pm on weekdays, and offers a full range of prescriptions, health products, skin care, and advice. The pharmacy is also an NDSS agent and stocks essentials for coughs, colds, allergies and pain relief.

Mr Guray said the aim was to offer consistent, friendly care with a personal touch. “We want people to feel comfortable dropping in, asking questions, and knowing we’re here to help,” he said.

“We see the pharmacy as part of a growing network of health services in the village,” Mr Mohammed said. “It’s not just about scripts — it’s about supporting a community that now has local access to care again.”
