Make a splash at Nambour water polo Come and Try Day

Local families and workers alike are being encouraged to dive into a new sport this month, with Sunshine Coast Water Polo hosting free Come and Try sessions – including a fun afternoon at Nambour Aquatic Centre on Sunday September 14.

Held as part of National Water Polo Day celebrations, the event invites children and teens (18 and under) to jump in the pool from 12pm to 1.30pm, with a free sausage sizzle to follow. The session is suitable for competent swimmers only.

“Water polo is about fitness, fun, and friendships. It’s a sport that anyone can enjoy, and National Water Polo Day is the perfect chance to jump in and be part of it,” said Sunshine Coast Water Polo president Andy Muller.

The sessions are part of a broader campaign to grow the sport locally and nationally in the lead-up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympics. Sunshine Coast clubs are also calling on local businesses to support junior athletes through sponsorship.

Other free Come and Try sessions are running at Mountain Creek and St Andrews, with a $6 entry fee for Noosa sessions.
