Local business owners and community leaders shared hard-earned lessons on resilience, wellbeing and community involvement at the Nambour Chamber of Commerce’s latest Coffee Catch-up at Post Coffee Burnside.
The “Celebrating Blokes in Business” event featured presentations from The Namba co-owners Wayd Bailey and Shayne Daniel, Grab Life by the Balls founder Sam Parker, Sundale chief executive Cameron Taylor and Equipe Coaching’s Rick Paget.
Mr Bailey and Mr Daniel outlined the difficult beginnings behind their revival of the former Club Hotel Nambour, including payment system failures and serious financial pressure before The Namba established itself as a popular food-focused venue.
Mr Parker addressed the importance of mateship in protecting men’s mental and physical health, while Mr Paget encouraged business owners to regularly assess how pressures involving work, finances and relationships were affecting their home lives.
Mr Taylor outlined Sundale’s recovery from historic financial difficulties and how it is reshaping its property portfolio to reinvest in modern aged-care facilities.
Power Curve Automotive owner Emma Powter received the chamber’s Business of the Month award and highlighted the company’s community initiatives.
These include Welcome to Nambour packs for new residents and a proposed P-plate program offering free pre-purchase vehicle inspections to help young drivers choose safer cars.
The morning concluded with prize draws and updates on forthcoming events, including the Sunshine Coast Show and Council’s Buy Local Day.
