Nambour’s business community packed into Small Change Espresso on Thursday November 6 for the Nambour Chamber of Commerce Coffee Catch Up, with speakers highlighting the power of collaboration, care and community connection as the town continues to grow.
MC Jody Chatillon opened the morning by flagging upcoming Chamber dates — the AGM, now moved to Tuesday December 3, and the Chamber Christmas Party at The Namba on Thursday December 12 — encouraging members to book early for what’s always a lively night.
Major sponsor Sundale shared exciting news of its recent brand refresh and five-year strategic plan. Executive Manager Brand and Communication Tracey Gillander said the 60-year-old organisation, founded in Nambour, remains deeply committed to supporting local businesses and employment. “We truly do believe in buying local, staying local and supporting local — and that’s something we’re going to focus on even more over the next 12 months,” she said. Ms Gillander also invited the community to Sundale’s Christmas Carols on Friday December 5, expected to draw up to 5,000 people.
Donna Dowler from The Shack Community Centre announced the launch of this year’s Trees of Hope Christmas Appeal, which provides gift bags and essentials to individuals and families in need. “We’d love everyone to get on board — there’s something special about coming together to make Christmas brighter for others,” she said.
Equip Coaching’s Rick Paget, who also leads community support at Everyday Foundation, spoke about the role of business leaders in shaping Nambour’s culture. “The culture of our community will always reflect the culture of its business leaders,” he said, urging local operators to embrace compassion and connection as part of their business ethos.
Guest speaker Lenny Vance, from the Sunshine Coast Events Industry Association, underlined the vital contribution of the events sector to the regional economy and community life. He called for more “third places” — social spaces where people can gather, celebrate and create culture — and encouraged businesses to register on the free Events Connect platform to attract local and visiting event organisers.
Members enjoyed coffee, networking and a festive offer from Enchanted Eco Events, with owner Lisa providing 10% off Christmas hire packages for Chamber members.
