Quarter of a million directed to local community groups
The Crisafulli Government has announced the Nicklin electorate’s share of more than $16 million in grants as part of a record-setting round of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF).
Across Queensland, almost 630 community groups have been awarded grants of up to $35,000, to support a wide range of projects and initiatives.
The latest round delivers a welcome boost to Nambour and the Sunshine Coast hinterland, with funding helping to upgrade local facilities, support grassroots sporting clubs and provide essential services.
More than 2000 applications were received across the State, which was the largest number in the program’s 31-year history.
Recipients across Nicklin will share in $237,508, including:
• Nambour and Districts Netball Association will receive $35,000 to upgrade courts at Woombye.
• Sunshine Coast Gymnastics Academy is set to receive $33,404 for new equipment to support the next generation of gymnasts.
• Yandina Cricket Club has been awarded $35,000 to purchase essential equipment.

• Chevallum State School P&C Association will receive $21,945 to upgrade facilities.
Member for Nicklin, Marty Hunt, welcomed the funding of almost a quarter of a million dollars to community organisations.
“It’s fantastic to see such a strong injection of support for grassroots clubs and local groups who work so hard for our region,” Mr Hunt said.
“These grants will go a long way in delivering upgrades, new equipment and facilities that benefit people of all ages and abilities. This is real, on-the-ground investment in
Nicklin.”
Mr Hunt said the funding round also highlighted the incredible work being done by volunteers and community leaders across the electorate.
“These clubs and organisations are the beating heart of our towns - from sport and recreation to annual community events. This funding helps ensure they can continue to thrive and grow,” he said.
Attorney-General and Minister for Justice and Minister for Integrity Deb Frecklington said the record-breaking interest in the latest round of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund demonstrated its importance to local communities.
“These grants are a huge benefit across Queensland’s towns, rural centres and cities, and they can be a lifeline for organisations that are doing it tough,” the Attorney-General said.
“You only need to look at the list of recipients in Round 122 to see the difference these grants make to the people and places that make our State strong.
A new round of the GCBF will open next month and Mr Hunt encourages local groups to apply.
Round 124 of the GCBF, offering grants of up to $100,000, will open June 9 and close on July 18, 2025.
