Showdown showcase to back local young screen talent

A night of local filmmaking will hit the big screen at Nambour Cinemas on Tuesday, April 21, with proceeds helping young Sunshine Coast creatives take their first steps into the screen industry.

Showdown Showcase will run from 7pm to 9pm and feature a curated program of short films made by local writers, directors, cast and crew.

The event will be presented across two 45-minute screening sessions and will include highlights from Sunny Coast Showdown, Showdown Shorts and other regional screen initiatives, spanning narrative, documentary and genre filmmaking.

Beyond celebrating homegrown storytelling, the event will also raise funds for the organisation’s Screen Cadetship program, which supports young people pursuing pathways into professional screen careers.

Organisers say they are keen to draw a strong local audience for the event, which aims to spotlight the depth of screen talent emerging from the Sunshine Coast while directly backing the next generation of filmmakers.

The showcase is being promoted across a range of channels including 92.7 MIX FM, Hot 91.1 FM event boards and the ATDW website, with further outreach underway.
