Nambour will sparkle with festive cheer this December when Queen Street transforms into a Twilight Christmas Shopping Trail across two Thursday nights – December 4 and 11, from 4–7pm.
The activation, coordinated by the Queen Street business owners, will see local shops extend their trading hours and spill onto the footpath with special offers, giveaways and street stalls. Live music, food trucks and family-friendly activities will add to the atmosphere, creating a vibrant evening reminiscent of the classic Thursday night shopping experience.
Participating businesses so far include Hammond Optometry, Nambour Town Square Markets, All Season Flowers, Ahead of Time Hair & Beauty, Queen Street Jewellers, Queen Street Meats, Crystal Realm, Bowen to the Max, Jampas Spirit of Tibet, LDL Boutique, Shadow Craft Tattoo & Piercing, Rogues Gallery, The Duke, Mr Beesley’s, Pet Affection, The Old Ambo Art Gallery, Bad Habit Records, BackBeat Records, Uptown Hair Studio, King Kong Sales, Tootsies Shoes, Fabric Cartel and Adobo Kitchen.
“The list of business keeps on growing and I urge all businesses in the Nambour CBD to open up on the set days so we can all have a little Christmas fun.”
‘Nambour deserves it’
Owner of LDL Boutique on Queen Street and event organiser Suzanne King said it was time to bring the community together and get locals back into the CBD and investing in Nambour.
“And there is no better way to get things started than with a Christmas Market Trail incorporating all of the businesses. We want people to come into town. As business owners, we need to see a lot more foot traffic in the town CBD, more happy chatter in the community and bringing the town’s CBD back, Nambour deserves it.”
‘Celebrate your community’
Event organiser Ali Atkinson from Rogues Gallery on Queen Street agreed: “The Nambour Twilight Christmas Trail is a celebration and a little act of defiance,” she said. “No matter what’s going on in the world or what troubles we face in our town, we can still choose to come together and support each other. Small businesses provide for the people of Nambour, but we need the community to support us. We offer such a great range of unique and interesting gift ideas. So please don’t shop online or at Sunshine Plaza before you have checked out your local stores. Come down, walk the Twilight Christmas Shopping Trail and celebrate with your community.”
I Am Nambour’s Rhonda Billett said she was working with Sunshine Coast Council and the Nambour Chamber of Commerce to help bring the event to life. She said the event was about celebrating community and supporting local business. “It’s a fun, festive way to bring people together, enjoy some great food, markets, music, and discover the amazing variety of shops right here in the heart of town,” she said.
