Newly merged Nambour USC prepped for 2025-26

The Sunshine Coast’s newest cricket club, Nambour USC, is ready to hit the pitch for the 2025-26 season, bringing together history, talent and community spirit in a powerful new combination.

Formed through the merger of two clubs – the Nambour Cutters and the USC Suns – the club is building on decades of tradition while carving out a fresh future. Based at the Nambour Showgrounds and USC grounds, Nambour USC now fields teams across all grades, from juniors through to senior men’s and women’s cricket, creating a clear pathway for players of all ages.

Senior coach John Turnbull said the new partnership had already proved to be a winning formula. “I think the best way to say it’s a bit of a jigsaw puzzle, really. What we lacked in terms of depth from our first grade and below last year at Nambour, we’ve been provided with huge amounts of depth and talent with the lower grades from USC,” he said. “So we’ve almost, without being too cliché, everything’s fit like a glove. Even all the way through our juniors as well.”

Turnbull, the former Sunshine Coast Scorchers wicket keeper, said the first grade squad, already strong last year, would be bolstered by the successful USC talent from second grade, ensuring depth across the grades. “We’ve got some really good depth this year and, like I said, a good bunch of blokes that are really passionate about their cricket.”

The club hosted Coolum, Glasshouse and Tewantin Noosa in its season openers at Nambour on Saturday September 27, signalling the beginning of what many hope will be a landmark season for the merged side.
