National cycling titles to bring 500 riders to Yandina
Yandina businesses are being encouraged to get behind a national cycling event expected to bring about 500 athletes, as well as their families and supporters, to town this September.
The AusCycling Junior and Masters Road National Championships will be held in Yandina from September 17 to 20, creating an opportunity for local cafés, restaurants, bakeries, massage providers and other businesses to welcome visitors and benefit from increased activity during the event.
AusCycling’s Head of Events, Carlijn Kerdijk, said organisers were keen to build local excitement and maximise the opportunity for the town.
“We’re really keen to get the local community and businesses excited about the event and help maximise the opportunity of bringing around 500 athletes, along with their families and supporters to Yandina,” she said.
The championships will attract junior and masters cyclists from across the country, with many expected to be accompanied by family members and support crews during their time in the town.
Organisers are seeking local businesses interested in being promoted in information guides that will be distributed to participants.
Ms Kerdijk said businesses could offer promotions, services or information to encourage visitors to spend time in Yandina around their racing commitments.
"If you're a local business, such as a café, restaurant, grocer or physio that can offer something to welcome our cyclists and supporters, please get in touch. We would love to connect your business with the participants,” she said.
Community groups and local organisations are also being encouraged to help spread the word online, in newsletters and community noticeboards in the lead-up to the championships.
