Rangebow boss nominated to lead Tourism group after former pres steps down
Hinterland Tourism Sunshine Coast will vote on a new executive tonight Wednesday October 15, with The Rangebow Festival’s Wayne Parcell nominated for president as long-serving leader Kerry Brown steps down after growing the organisation from 50 to 300 members.
Mr Parcell was nominated by Debi Latino and seconded by Steve Koepenick. Ms Brown, who has chaired through a period of rapid membership and industry engagement, thanked members and encouraged a strong turnout at the AGM.
Two candidates are in the running for vice-president: Stuart Whitney (eccotek Sunshine Coast), nominated by Lisa Brereton and seconded by Angela Brushe; and Xochi Lindholm (Narrows Escape Rainforest Retreat), nominated by Mr Parcell and seconded by Ms Latino. The secretary role remains vacant, with nominations to be taken on the night.
Treasurer nominee is Lisa Brereton (Celebrant), nominated by Nicole Hilton and seconded by Mr Parcell.
Committee nominations include: Mr Whitney (if unsuccessful as vice-president), Michael Cross (Montville Country Cabins), Mr Koepenick (Country House on Hunchy), Ms Latino (Magnolia Co), Angela Brushe (Photography), Jason Weekes (Calibre Workshop) and Carissa Moloney-Ronalds (Elk & Fir Photography).
Mr Parcell, who is President of the Montville Village Association and a board member of Montville Chamber of Commerce, as well as Director of The Rangebow Festival, said he would be thrilled to lead the organisation, if successful.
“When I was first asked to nominate I declined, as my current community interests keep me busy enough,” he said.
“But after numerous conversations, including with Kerry Brown, I decided to nominate for the role, in the hope that I have something to offer.
“My passion is for change that benefits the broader community and this new role with its significant legacy is worth building on and taking to the next level. I expect to re-evaluate my other commitments and determine which ones continue to align with my personal and community values.”
