LEGO legends from OneSchool Global Nambour shine at STEM, creating winning delivery robot

OSG Nambour’s winning team was Wynsloe, Denver, Aurelia, Camille, Sybelle, Hunley and Cienna, who worked together to create their delivery robots Leo and Dash. 

Seven students from Nambour have been named OneSchool Global Australia’s LEGO Lab winners after designing, building and programing a delivery robot.

Primary students at OSG campuses across Australia, New Zealand, Europe, the UK and North America all participated, working together in teams on their LEGO constructions.

Students combined LEGO with motors, sensors and a small programmable hub, and used coding to make their creations move, respond, and solve problems.

Following the final design challenge, each campus put forward one team to be considered for the overall regional winner.

"What I loved most about the LEGO Lab challenge was watching children take charge of their own learning,” said Rachel Beyer, OSG’s Global Director of Teaching and Learning (Primary).

“Student had to be both curious and resilient, as there was a lot of planning, testing and problem solving required to ensure the robots were coded to execute the correct sequence of activities,” said Ms Beyer.

“The LEGO Lab design challenge really inspired our Primary students to use their creativity and STEM skills,” said OSG Nambour Principal Michael Knight.

“It was an exciting hands-on learning experience for our students, combining problem‑solving, coding, and teamwork – and it was extra exciting for OSG Nambour to be named the regional winner for OSG Australia!”
