Nature inspires anniversary exhibition featuring 12 local artists
A year of celebrations continues at the Maroochy Bushland Botanic Gardens with the Here, inspired by nature art exhibition, featuring 12 local artists across diverse media and generations.
Visitors can be enchanted by the youngest artist, aged 11, and her vision of life under the microscope. The animation of flowers and leaves is intoxicating, while the exhibition also features photographs from vintage cameras, a wood sculpture with creatures, a wildlife painting, beautifully carved porcelain and a silk textile hanging to excite the imagination.
The exhibition celebrates the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Sculpture Garden. The Stone Symposium was held in 2005, when sculptors from around the world came to the gardens to create beautiful sculptures, thanks to local sculptor Craig Medson and former mayor Joe Natoli.
The sculptures were installed in a specially landscaped garden in 2006. The story of the symposium and Sculpture Garden is also told through a collection of photographs and slides.
The Here, inspired by nature exhibition continues until Sunday, September 27, from 9.30am–2.30pm daily, except September 27, when it closes at noon.
It is being held at the Arts & Ecology Centre, Maroochy Bushland Botanic Gardens, Palm Creek Road, Tanawha. Admission is free.
