Local, care & support, lived experience at Parent 2 Parent

For more than 25 years, Parent to Parent (P2P) has been a trusted voice for Sunshine Coast (and greater Qld) families navigating life with disability. Based in Woombye, this local not-for-profit is built on lived experience – founded by parents who knew just how confusing and isolating the journey can be.

Today, P2P is a go-to support hub for people with disability and their families. Whether you’re after peer support, advocacy, skills building, or simply someone who understands, the team is here to help. One service, in particular, is increasingly beneficial to people with disability – NDIS Plan Management.

“This industry can be overwhelming,” says P2P CEO Jodi Wolthers. “Our role is to simplify the complex, give people confidence, and make sure they’re getting the most from their NDIS plan. We live it, every day.”

P2P’s Plan Management goes well beyond number-crunching. It provides practical help and peace of mind. The team takes care of paying invoices, tracking budgets, and making sure participants have the flexibility and control to choose the supports that suit them best.

“Many of us have walked this journey with our own children or family members,” Ms Wolthers said. “That perspective is powerful – it builds trust and ensures we never lose sight of what matters.”

P2P is the Queensland Agency for Inclusion Australia, the national peak body for people with intellectual disabilities. From early childhood to ageing carers, P2P walks alongside families at every stage, helping them make informed decisions and plan with confidence for the future.

Another standout initiative is Loud and Clear Qld, Queensland’s only self-advocacy group led by people with intellectual disability. Founded in 2015, its members are strong voices in the community, participating in high-level discussions that champion the rights, voices, and choices of people with intellectual disability, and delivering their own annual conference and concert.

This signature event is entirely peer-led. Members choose the theme, plan the event, and run the show. It’s a unique experience that builds leadership skills, confidence, and real connections. The event has even been streamed nationally.

Save the Date.

P2P also delivers PATH, a dynamic and creative visual planning tool used to set goals and map out practical steps. PATH is helpful for people at different stages of life.

• PATH helps students plan their next steps in school and after leaving school and links to SET (Senior Education and Training) planning.

• PATH helps people to identify goals and develop a strategy and the necessary steps to achieve their goals.

• PATH helps organisations & community groups to set their strategic direction and engage stakeholders.

The result? An engaging, motivating roadmap that helps people turn their ideas into action with a clear path to the future they want to create.
