Palmwoods’ award-winning AJ’s Country Meats has added another string of honours to its growing reputation, taking out multiple medals at the Queensland heats of the AMIC Sausage King & Best Butcher’s Burger competition.

AJ’s secured first place in two of the most hotly contested categories. Their Angus Burgers and their quirky Vegemite & Cheese Beef Sausages will now progress to the Queensland Championships, with winners to be announced at the AMIC Awards Gala Dinner in Brisbane on September 13.

Owner Andrea Beard said the results were a huge team effort and another proud milestone for the young business, which has already attracted national and international recognition.

“We were excited to see some big wins, and the whole team is cheering us on with fingers crossed for success at the awards night,” Ms Beard said. “Thank you to our team for supporting us to this great achievement.”

In the Burger Section, AJ’s claimed first place with its Angus Burgers, while also taking third for Jalapeño Burgers and third for Lamb Burgers. Their Vegemite & Cheese Beef Sausages topped the Gourmet Sausage category, while their Plain Pork Sausage and Plain Beef Sausage each placed third.

The results continue AJ’s rapid rise to prominence since opening in Palmwoods, with the shop now firmly established as one of Queensland’s standout boutique butchers.
