Parkinson’s Group ‘Intent” on Putting on Musical Show

Choir of Sound Intent, whose members live with Parkinsonís yet continuing to share their musical talents.

There is something inspiring about music performed in a church.

The warmth of the timber, the soft tined light, and the quiet sense of reflection all combine to create an atmosphere unlike any concert hall.

On Saturday 23 May, St Augustine's Anglican Church at Palmwoods will host a very special Classical Music Festival - an afternoon that promises not only beautiful music, but a moving celebration of courage, friendship and the enduring power of the human spirit.

Doors open at 1.15 pm for the 2pm performance, with guests invited to settle into the historic church before an uplifting and varied programme begins.

At the heart of the concert is the Choir of Sound Intent, whose members live with Parkinson’s yet continuing to share their musical talents with remarkable determination and joy. Their performances stand as a reminder that while Parkinson’s may affect movement, it cannot diminish creativity, passion or the ability to touch an audience through music.

Adding a deeply personal dimension to the afternoon, the choir’s leader and her husband will also perform instrumental pieces, bringing their own story of resilience and dedication to the stage.

The concert will also feature the much-loved Amber Trio, whose musicians prove that age is no barrier to artistic excellence.

Audiences will have the privilege of hearing a remarkable 95-year-old pianist alongside an 86-year-old cellist, whose years of experience and musicianship promise performances filled with warmth, elegance and feeling.

Complementing the programme will be a selection of accomplished performers including Paula Simpson and Trio, together with featured instrumental contributions throughout the afternoon. Together, the artists will create a rich tapestry of classical and contemporary sounds certain to delight music lovers of all ages.

Set within the welcoming surroundings of St Augustine’s Church at 13 Hill Street, Palmwoods, the festival offers more than a concert - it is an opportunity for the community to come together and experience the uplifting power of music, perseverance and shared humanity.

Seating is limited and early arrival is recommended. Tickets will be available at the door at $15 including afternoon tea.
