Pinnacle students Felix and Amber with teacher Emma Cracken: “This is a program about students recognising what they love, and teachers designing lessons that factor this in.”

Nambour State College is making big changes to its well-known Pinnacle Program.

Students starting Year 7 in 2022 will be able to choose five additional strands to specialise in.

“We recognise that all students enter high school with existing areas of passion,” explained Emma Cracken, HoD of Junior Secondary and the Pinnacle Program’s coordinator.

“We want to build on these passions and use the program to help our students connect and shine early on in high school.”

The expanded program groups students together by their passion area/s and includes specialist lessons that help students continue building their skills and knowledge in their chosen area.

“This is a program about students recognising what they love, and teachers designing lessons that factor this in,” said Ms Cracken,

“There is no pre-requisite for applicants to be the top performer in their field, they just need to arrive with motivation and excitement.”

The Pinnacle Program provides the opportunity to connect and learn with like-minded students. Students will be supported to improve their skills across  six key capabilities of character, citizenship, collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking.

Applications for the 2022 Pinnacle Program are open now.
