Budget boost delivers on MP’s safety promise to Nambour

Nambour’s safety is set for a major upgrade, with $3 million allocated in the Queensland Budget for a new Police Beat and expanded CBD CCTV network —delivering on a key election commitment by Nicklin MP Marty Hunt.

Mr Hunt said the funding would help restore confidence in the town centre and create a safer environment for residents, businesses and visitors. “We are restoring safety where we live and building a stronger and more connected Nicklin for the long term,” he said.

The CCTV and Police Beat investment is part of the government’s $5.2 billion Making Our Community Safer Plan, and sits alongside other budget wins for the region, including school upgrades, road safety works, grassroots sports funding, and a new mental health accommodation village in Woombye.

The 2025-26 Queensland Budget laid the foundation for a reboot for safety in Nambour, Mr Hunt said, alongside allocations to grassroots sports clubs and upgrades to roads, schools and health services.

“After years of being overlooked, Nicklin is finally being prioritised, and we’re making up for lost time with real investment in community safety, infrastructure and everyday services,” Mr Hunt said.

“This Budget is delivering targeted measures to tackle crime, ease cost-of-living pressures, and provide better health and education services across our region, with funding commitments that will benefit Nicklin residents directly. We are restoring safety where we live and building a stronger and more connected Nicklin for the long term.”
