Police Beat praise after scissors incident in Nambour CBD

Nambour Police Beat Officer in Charge Aaron Caldwell.

Nambour’s dedicated Police Beat has been credited with helping bring a frightening CBD incident under control after a woman allegedly armed with scissors threatened members of the public in Price Street.

Police said they were called after multiple reports of a woman threatening people in the area about 2.40pm on June 30.

Officers attended and located the woman a short time later. She was taken into custody without incident and no physical injuries were reported.

Nambour Police Beat Officer in Charge Aaron Caldwell was the first officer on scene and was thanked for his quick response and professionalism by Nicklin MP Marty Hunt.

“Aaron’s swift actions helped ensure the situation was brought under control, with no injuries reported,” Mr Hunt said.

“This is exactly why I fought to deliver a dedicated Police Beat and officer for Nambour CBD - a visible local presence, responding quickly and helping keep our community safe. Well done Aaron and thank you for your service.”

A 36-year-old Nambour woman has been charged with one count each of going armed to cause fear and threatening violence.

She was due to appear before Maroochydore Magistrates Court.
