Queensland's biggest gardening event welcomes Graham Ross AM
For more than four decades, the Queensland Garden Show has brought gardening enthusiasts together, and in 2026 the much-loved event will return to Nambour from 10 to 12 July with Australia’s most acclaimed horticulturist Graham Ross AM confirmed to join the impressive speaker line-up.
Organised by Greenlife Industry QLD, the premier three-day event will once again transform more than seven hectares of the Nambour Showgrounds into a vibrant showcase of plants, expert advice, landscape design and hands-in-the-soil learning for gardeners of every skill level.
Each year, more than 25,000 visitors pass through the gates to explore over 360 exhibitors, including 55 major nurseries offering an extraordinary 60,000 plants for sale each day. From garden classics to exotic and hard-to-find varieties, and even brand-new releases launched at the event, the Queensland Garden Show brings together the state’s largest collection of plants in one location.
Chief Executive Officer of Greenlife Industry QLD, Colin Fruk, said the 2026 event would honour the Show’s much-loved traditions while introducing new experiences and a diverse speaker line-up for visitors.
“Over the years the Queensland Garden Show has grown into one of the Sunshine Coast’s most significant annual attractions, and we’re incredibly proud to host Australia’s largest gardening speaker program,” Mr Fruk said.
“In 2026 visitors will be able to enjoy more than 70 free talks and demonstrations across four live stages, with some of the country’s most respected gardening personalities joining us, including gardening guru Phil Dudman and ABC Gardening Australia’s Sophie Thomson and Jerry Coleby-Williams.
“We’re especially excited to welcome gardening royalty Graham Ross to our line-up this year. His impressive career includes joining Channel 7’s multi-award, Logie winning Better Homes & Gardens in episode 1 in 1995, where he is still the only original cast member on the show, and his 2GB radio program The Garden Clinic, which is Australia’s longest running radio program at 46 years.
“Graham has been educating and inspiring Australian gardeners for more than 50 years, so having someone of his calibre share his knowledge with our visitors is something really special.
“For 42 years, the Queensland Garden Show has welcomed budding horticulturists and aspiring green thumbs of all ages to immerse themselves in a world of plants and head home inspired to transform their own backyards or patios.
“Whether you are just starting out or have decades of experience, there is something for everyone. Visitors can expect the return of Show favourites including the Giant Kitchen Garden and the crowd-pleasing rooster crowing competition, along with some fresh faces and a few surprises to keep things evolving.
Visitors can plan their day around the live demos, take part in hands-on workshops or explore the fully planted Giant Kitchen Garden for practical guidance on creating a productive soil-to-supper backyard. The popular Plant Clinic will also be open all weekend, offering free one-on-one advice from horticultural experts to help diagnose plant problems and identify mystery specimens.
“The strong interest from site holders and speakers – including those joining us for the first time – is a clear sign of growing confidence in the future of gardening in Queensland,” Mr Fruk said.
“Every year the Queensland Garden Show opens its gates to celebrate Queensland’s thriving multi‑billion‑dollar nursery and greenlife sector, a powerhouse for local jobs, regional communities and urban greening, while inspiring visitors to discover fresh gardening possibilities.”
In a new community initiative, Sunday 12 July will be celebrated as “Locals Day”, with discounted entry available to Sunshine Coast Council residents, in recognition of the community’s longstanding support.
“Over more than four decades, we estimate the event has contributed in excess of $200 million to the local economy, with around 65 per cent of visitors travelling from outside the region – that’s a significant boost for local accommodation providers, hospitality venues, retailers and community organisations,” Mr Fruk said.
“While the economic impact is substantial, what truly defines the Show is the sense of community. It is about sharing knowledge, supporting Queensland’s nursery industry and inspiring the next generation of gardeners.”
The family-friendly event offers free entry for children aged 15 and under, along with dedicated activities for budding young growers.
The 2026 Queensland Garden Show will be held from Friday 10 July to Sunday 12 July at the Nambour Showgrounds, Coronation Avenue, Nambour. Gates are open daily from 8am to 4pm.
