St John’s bands to bring live music to Nambour Rummagers markets

Shoppers hunting for vintage finds and handmade goods will have a live soundtrack when young musicians from St John’s College perform at the next Nambour Rummagers Market.

The College’s concert band and several student rock bands are preparing to play at the market on Sunday, June 21, giving the students an opportunity to perform before a community audience.

The timing has proved particularly fitting given that the market also coincides with international Make Music Day, an annual worldwide celebration held on June 21, encouraging musicians of all ages, abilities and styles to perform and share live music with their communities.

St John’s College students will contribute to the celebration with a mix of concert band music and rock performances during the morning.

The appearance will also add another dimension to the Nambour Rummagers Market, which brings together stalls offering preloved, vintage, homemade and handmade goods.  A community sausage sizzle will also be on site for the morning.

The market takes place on the third Sunday of the month at the Sunshine Coast Council’s Nambour Library forecourt at the corner of Currie and Bury streets.

Organisers want to make the monthly market more than just a great place to shop, by introducing live entertainment and encouraging community groups to create activity in the town centre.

The Nambour Rummagers Market will be held on Sunday, June 21, from 9am to midday at the council and library forecourt, corner of Currie and Bury streets, Nambour.  Book your stall site at www.iamnambour.com.au
