Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show Society launches search for 2026 Rural Ambassadors and Showgirl Award
Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show Society’s 2025 Showgirl finalists.
The Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show Society (SCASS) has officially opened applications for its 2026 leadership programs, offering young locals a chance to represent their region and access a state-wide prize pool valued at over $50,000.
The Showgirl Awards and Rural Ambassador Awards are the preeminent leadership platforms for the next generation of agricultural advocates. These programs provide entrants with professional development in public speaking, event management, marketing, agriculture 101, alongside exclusive behind-the-scenes opportunities and VIP tickets to various shows across the State.
From the Show Ring to Leadership
Leading the charge is Holly Harington, our Showgirl Award Coordinator. Holly’s journey began nine years ago showing miniature horses, eventually leading her to the state finals at the Ekka in 2024. “In the last few years, I’ve grown so much,” says Holly. “I’ve made a range of incredible connections with show stewards, members, management and the broader show community. I’ve also learnt so much about the arts, agriculture and of course show business. I am honored to now give back and help other young women to connect and find their own opportunity within the show community.”
A Legacy of Empowerment
We also celebrate the ten-year contribution of Ellie O’Hara (2014–2024), former Chairperson of the Queensland Country Life Showgirl Awards. “The Showgirl Awards allow a unique opportunity for young women to get involved with something much bigger than themselves,” Ellie says. “It provides invaluable leadership and management skills that develop confidence and new career pathways. The opportunities are endless—you just need to have a go.”
