Hand stitching workshops offer creative escape in Montville
Textile artist Anna Hanssen is inviting locals to slow down and get creative this winter with a series of hand stitching workshops at the Sunshine Art School studio in Montville.
Running over three Saturday mornings—July 19, 26 and August 2—these welcoming workshops will guide participants through embroidery techniques and textile collage in a relaxed, supportive environment. All materials are provided, and guests are encouraged to bring their own fabric scraps to add a personal touch.
“Creating with textiles has always been a meditation for me,” Ms Hanssen said. “These workshops are about more than just learning to stitch—they’re about expressing yourself and enjoying the process of making.”
Ms Hanssen, who holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Tasmania, has exhibited widely and taught many craft sessions. Her focus is on sustainability and embracing imperfection.
The sessions will be held at 5/184 Main Street, Montville from 10.30am to 12.30pm each week.
