Celebrating a decade of The Glassies as nominations open for 2026

Member for Glass House, Andrew Powell MP, is excited to announce the return of the Glass House Small Business Awards – affectionately known as the “Glassies” – as the event celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2026.

Now in its tenth year, the Glassies honour the outstanding small businesses, entrepreneurs and employees who help drive the economy and strengthen communities across the Glass House electorate and surrounding hinterland.

Mr Powell said reaching the 10-year milestone was a testament to the incredible small business community that continues to support and grow the region.

“For a decade, the Glassies have shone a spotlight on the hardworking business owners and employees who go above and beyond for their customers and communities,” Mr Powell said.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy, and the Glassies are our way of celebrating the people who make our towns vibrant places to live, work and visit.”

The awards are split into four regions across the electorate to ensure businesses from every part of the community are recognised:

• Moreton Bay
• Glasshouse Country
• Maleny
• Montville

Nominations for the 2026 Glass House Small Business Awards will be open for two weeks, giving the community the opportunity to recognise their favourite local businesses and employees. This will be followed by the usual four-week public voting period to determine the silver award winners.

Bronze winners will again be selected by the Presidents of the local Chambers of Commerce, while the prestigious Gold Glassie winners will be chosen by Mr Powell in consultation with the Chamber Presidents.

Winners will be announced at the 2026 Glassies Gala Event on Tuesday, 19 May 2026. Mr Powell encouraged residents to get involved and recognise the businesses and individuals who make a difference in their daily lives.

“Whether it’s your favourite café, your trusted mechanic, or the staff member who always delivers service with a smile, the Glassies are about recognising the people who make our local communities thrive,” he said.

“After ten fantastic years of the Glassies, I’m incredibly proud to see the awards continue to grow and bring our business community together.”
