Folk-rock favourites return to Nambour stage
Australian band Things of Stone and Wood will bring their new album to The Presynct in Nambour this month.
ARIA and APRA award-winning Australian band Things of Stone and Wood will bring their long-awaited new album to Nambour this weekend, marking their first release in more than two decades.
The folk-rock group’s latest album Rae Street is their first in 23 years, and the centrepiece of a national tour now making its way to the Sunshine Coast. Founding members Greg Arnold and Michael “Mikey” Allen will perform as the “Original Duo” at The Presynct on Saturday March 21.
Best known for their 1990s hit Happy Birthday Helen, the band has built a reputation over nearly 40 years with multiple Top 10 releases and five Top 50 singles, along with national and international chart success.
The new album showcases a more stripped-back acoustic sound, recorded in a converted bedroom studio in Melbourne. It includes the double single You’d Gone Before You Went/The Windmills Turn, blending reflective songwriting with the melodic style that defined the band’s earlier work.
Audiences can expect a mix of new material alongside acoustic versions of well-known tracks including Wildflowers, Rock This Boat and Share This Wine.
The Nambour show is part of a broader March to May tour celebrating both the new release and the band’s enduring catalogue.
