Federal Member for Fisher reflects on campaign, pledges to continue local advocacy

Mr Wallace and supporters thank motorists.

Andrew Wallace MP has extended his gratitude to the voters of Fisher for their support and confidence in re-electing him as their representative.

"I am deeply honoured and humbled by the trust you have placed in me once again. Your vote is a testament to our shared vision for a stronger, more prosperous Fisher. I am committed to being your voice in Canberra, advocating tirelessly for the needs and aspirations of our community," Mr Wallace said.

He also acknowledged the national result and his political opponents.

"I would like to congratulate Anthony Albanese and the Australian Labor Party on their election victory. While the result was not what we had hoped for, I remain incredibly proud of the grassroots local campaign we ran and the values we stood for.

“This was a tough loss for the Liberal Party – one that has seen many talented MPs lose their seats, along with their loyal staff. I want to pay tribute to Peter Dutton and to all of my colleagues who gave everything in service of their communities and our country.

“As we reflect on this result, two things are clear: we must identify our mistakes and shortcomings, and we must learn from them."

Mr Wallace pledged to continue advocating for the electorate of Fisher.

"As we move forward, I pledge to continue fighting for the interests of Fisher. Together, we will build on our achievements and work towards a brighter future for all. Thank you for your trust and support."

He also paid tribute to his campaign volunteers.

“I simply could not have held the seat of Fisher with such a strong margin, or indeed at all, without the remarkable efforts of hundreds of loyal volunteer LNP and community members.

“Many of these volunteers gave up days and weeks of their lives to support the LNP and me – a debt for which we are eternally grateful. From door knocking, phone canvassing, installing signs, donating money and time, and of course countless hours working on polling booths in the heat and rain – this type of grassroots political activism has always been part of the LNP long before it became a catchphrase for my political rivals.”

During the past term, Mr Wallace advocated for a new headspace facility in Caloundra, funded by the former Coalition Government but left in limbo by Labor.

He also turned the sod on Kairos Community College after securing federal support, and continued to push for key infrastructure projects, including the Mooloolah River Interchange and Sunshine Coast Rail – initiatives backed by $10 billion in State LNP funding after the Albanese Government cut federal support.

Mr Wallace said he had also fought for funding to improve veterans’ wellbeing, child safety, and assistance for local community groups under financial strain.

Reflecting on his nine years as the Member for Fisher, Mr Wallace said: "It has been an incredible journey serving this community so far, but I have lots more work to do. I am eager to get back to work and look forward to what we can accomplish together in the coming years."
