IGA stores launch flanno fundraiser for farmers
White’s IGA team members Tyler, Donna and Attaiyah help promote the ‘Flanno for a Farmer’ which will run across IGA stores.
Throughout August, Farm Angels in partnership with IGA are calling on all Australians to throw on their favourite flannelette shirt and stand in solidarity with the people that put food on our table and clothes on our back - Aussie farmers.
On Tuesday August 5, Sunshine Coast stores including White’s IGA Forest Glen and Seasons IGA Wises Road in Maroochydore hosted launch celebrations to kick off the fundraising efforts for ‘Flanno for a Farmer’.
The stores are backing the fundraiser, saying they simply couldn’t do what they do without their local farmers and suppliers who provide great quality produce and products, straight from the region. Independent IGA stores on the Sunshine Coast and beyond are able to thrive thanks to their partnerships with local farmers and suppliers.
Speaking to the partnership, Roz White from White’s IGA said it was important to recognise and support local farmers. “We are very fortunate to have amazing farmers right here in our beautiful region who help us put delicious and fresh meals on our plates. We encourage our community to get behind the cause this month and buy a token to support Aussie farmers next time you’re in store.”
Founder of Farm Angels, Natasha Johnston says backing our farmers has never been more important: “Too often, our farmers are struggling in silence. They’re out there doing one of the toughest jobs in the country, yet many feel forgotten. Flanno for a Farmer is about saying, ‘We see you. We appreciate you. And we’ve got your back.’ Every dollar raised helps us provide real, practical support for those who need it most,” said Natasha.
The store fundraisers provided locals with the opportunity to meet the Farm Angels team and hear more about the work that they and IGA stores do to support Aussie farmers. ‘Flanno for a Farmer’ is aiming to raise $500,000 this year.
